National Conference on Inclusive Education, titled “Empowering Every Learner – Every Learner Matters

Sharing the highlights of the recent 12th edition of National Conference on Inclusive Education, titled “Empowering Every Learner – Every Learner Matters,” which took place from December 19-21, 2024. This significant event was organized by the NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR EMPOWERMENT OF PERSONS WITH MULTIPLE DISABILITIES in Chennai, in collaboration with the GLOBAL INCLUSIVE EDUCATION NETWORK (GIEN), an initiative of the Centre for Disability Studies and Action at TISS Mumbai, and BROTHERHOOD, Delhi.

Accredited by the Rehabilitation Council of India, this conference brought together sixty passionate participants from across various Indian states including Chandigarh, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Orissa. Among them were eight talented students from Trivandrum International School and individuals with disabilities who contributed greatly to our discussions.

One of the key highlights was the impactful presentations made by students with and without disabilities. Their ability to engage with experts such as Ms. Aloka Guha, Dr. Madhura Nagchoudhuri, Dr. Hemlata, Dr. Madhavi Sharma, Mr. Satish Kapoor, and Ms. Poonam Talwar showcased not only their hard work but also underscored the importance of inclusive education.

Ms Seethalakshmi and Ms Ramya from NIEPMD, Chennai was present during the conference.

Eight students from Trivandrum International School participated in the National Conference along with Special educator Ms Sini Rege.

The interaction between students and experts was particularly noteworthy; it fostered a rich dialogue that inspired all attendees and emphasized our shared commitment to empowering every learner.

We believe that events like this are crucial for driving change in educational practices across our nation and promoting inclusivity for all learners.
